About Us
Halden began in 2021 with one backpack pattern, a secondhand sewing machine and a spare room in Bristol. We sold forty bags in the first year, mostly to friends of friends, and spent every evening answering questions about wax and zips.
The range grew slowly from there, one product at a time, and only when we could make the new thing better than what we already had. We are still small and we like it that way. No outside money means we can tell a supplier no, and we do, regularly.

Five people, one studio, no outside money
Everything we sell was sampled in house, argued over, and worn for months before it earned a page on this site. If a piece cannot be repaired, we do not design it. That single rule shapes more than anything else we do.
